This morning we hired a driver (about $45 for the day) and headed to Kuta Beach on the southern coast of Bali.
There was a light drizzle, and most of the shops near the beach remained closed after the Nyepi holiday yesterday. This led to problems later when looking for lunch. The beach itself was covered in trash that the storms yesterday washed ashore. Otherwise it had a nice view of the distant volcano, and some neat statues lined the sidewalk and various temples along the walk.
There were several food vendors along the road next to the beach. Had we known that we would have trouble finding an open restaurant for lunch, we would have stopped for a bite.
We spent the afternoon doing some shopping before a relaxing evening in the pool. Tomorrow we are off to Malaysia.
